The help-line themed “The number when in trouble”, will offer free of charge calls guaranteeing anonymity and confidentiality concerning the conversation. This line is oriented to deal with pre-school and school children, those suffering sexual or other type of abuse, those who face trouble at home or at school, as well as those with psychological troubles and suicidal thoughts.
Speaking at a press conference at the former royal residence of White Palace in Dedinje, Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic said that the problems of children are a matter of concern for society as a whole and everyone must do their best in order to identify and solve these problems.
“This is not the Olympics, it is life that ceaselessly brings problems, and no medals or recognitions are awarded for solving them”, said Vuksanovic, adding that children have the greatest rights, those being care, nurture and education.
The children’s SOS help line project in Serbia has been realised by the Foundation of Princess Katarina Karadjordjevic in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social policy, Ministry of Education and Sport, Ministry of Health, the People’s Office of the President of Serbia, and the Centre for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth.
