Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar said that the Hague indictee Sreten Lukic has been released from prison today, after the Serbian government issued guarantees for his provisional release, and that he will stay in Serbia until the beginning of trial.

In a statement to the Beta news agency, Loncar said that this is strong incentive for the rest of the indictees, allegedly staying in Serbia, to follow the positive examples of their co-indictees and make a decision to surrender voluntarily to the tribunal in The Hague.
The minister said that in the upcoming period, he expects Serbia to carry out all its obligations towards the Hague tribunal in full and that if any indictee’s presence on Serbian territory is confirmed, it will not hinder this cooperation and the process of European integration.
According to Loncar, the provisional release granted to Lukic is more proof of the successful bilateral cooperation with the Hague tribunal, which the Serbian government has rightfully opted for.
Lukic was released from custody in Scheweningen today at 11 am, and will arrive in Belgrade accompanied by Minister Loncar.
