Full support of Cyprus to Serbia on the issue of Kosmet and the EU

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic stated today, after the end of his official visit to Nicosia, that Cyprus is one of the countries that strongly supports Serbia in terms of its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and Serbia does the same to Cyprus.

Selakovic pointed out that he conveyed the unchanged position of Serbia on the issue of support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cyprus to Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulidis.

In addition, as he stated, Cyprus is one of the biggest advocates of Serbia's accession to the European Union and someone who tries to provide us with help and support on our European path at every step and at every opportunity.

Earlier today, the Minister met with Cypriot Archbishop Chrysostom II and Cypriot President's Commissioner for Diaspora Fotis Fotiou, with whom he discussed connecting Serbs and Cypriots in the diaspora.

The officials agreed that the bilateral memorandum on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the Office of the Commissioner of the President of Cyprus for the Diaspora should be extended to a trilateral one with Greece.

They concluded that there is a lot of room for connecting the Serbian and Cypriot diaspora in representing and promoting the two countries abroad, and pointed out that most attention should be paid to connecting young people through learning history, language, culture, but also connecting businesspeople and businesses.
