Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic spoke today with French Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Hugues Pernet on overall bilateral economic relations between the two countries and ways to improve them.
Parivodic and Pernet agreed that there is room for greater flows of foreign direct investment and trade in goods between the two countries.
They stressed that it is in the interest of the Serbian government to see a greater inflow of French investment and further participation of French companies in Serbia’s privatisation of state owned firms.
The two officials also agreed that Serbia and France should continue cooperation in organising domestic arbitration courts, given that France has a long tradition and experience in this area.
They also agreed that the Ministry and the French Embassy should organise a conference on trade and investment in Serbia, which will take place in Paris in April 2006.
Parivodic also accepted the invitation to meet with those representatives of French firms who are living and working in Belgrade, with the meeting to take place in the second half of October.
