Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali talked today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto about new investments of Hungarian companies in Serbia, as well as about cooperation on large infrastructure projects.
Szijjarto said that Hungary supported nine domestic companies with €25 million in order for them to invest in Serbia.
As he pointed out, the value of total investments will be three times higher, i.e. between €75 million and €80 million.
These companies will invest in logistics centres, the pharmaceutical industry, fruit processing and in the metal processing industry, with an emphasis on central and southern Serbia. When it comes to Vojvodina, it will be continued with the Economic Development Project, which includes support for small and medium enterprises.
Mali pointed out that the arrival of nine Hungarian companies in Serbia is great news for our country and a good signal from the government of Hungary, especially in the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic.
He said that he will hold a joint meeting with representatives of all companies, so that they could start working in Serbia as soon as possible.
The two ministers also discussed the cooperation between Serbia and Hungary on large infrastructure projects, with special emphasis on the modernisation of the railway between Subotica and Szeged, which is a key project for the population of that part of the two countries. As agreed, all necessary activities will be carried out as soon as possible so that the construction could begin as soon as possible and so that everything is completed by the middle of 2022.
