Director of the Administration for Environmental Protection Miroslav Nikcevic has said that tackling the problem of hazardous will would take priority in the government’s activities in the field of environmental protection.
In a statement to the Beta news agency today, Nikcevic expressed the hope that a project to build a hazardous waste disposal facility would be signed by the end of the year. He added that the Administration was contacting international environmental institutions as well as Serbian municipal governments, in connection with this project.
Nikcevic stressed that the problems of Pancevo’s canals and Paracin’s containers could not be addressed without a hazardous waste disposal facility and he added that the facility would be completely safe for the environment.
