Apart from the public services’ broadcasting networks, the draft envisages a maximum of five national commercial TV stations and five national commercial radio stations, and another 40 of each regional commercial radio and television stations at the most.
It further allows for an additional 160 local television stations and 260 local radio stations. The competition for receiving national broadcasting licences will be announced in autumn.
The draft strategy includes the issue of the transformation of the public company Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) and institutions of republic and provincial public broadcasting services. The Council will speed up the process of appointing board members of these two public broadcasting institutions.
The newly-appointed board will select managing teams of broadcasting institutions in Serbia and Vojvodina through a public competition.
