Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that Priboj is the first local self-government in Serbia that will switch to biomass when it comes to central heating and that other local self-governments should follow suit.
During her visit to Priboj, Brnabic visited the Free Zone, which employs 500 workers, two companies operating within the zone, as well as a new facility under construction of a German company outside the zone that will employ 400 new workers this year.
Priboj was in a very difficult situation after the shutting down of FAP. Thanks to the vision of Aleksandar Vucic, a working team for Priboj was formed in 2016, which diversified the economy, brought investors and breathed new life to the economy and the entire municipality, the Prime Minister said.
She also visited the Regional Innovation Start-up Centre under construction and the reconstructed Secondary School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, which together with other schools is connected to a biomass heating plant.
In Priboj, we managed to send a signal to young people that a different future is possible, Brnabic said, pointing out that as many as four schools there are connected to high-speed wireless internet, as part of the Connected Schools project.
The Prime Minister also praised the success of Priboj high school students who will represent Serbia at the European Robotics Competition on 14 March in Slovenia, together with students from Prijepolje.
Mayor of Priboj Lazar Rvovic expressed gratitude to the Serbian government for its support, pointing out that this local self-government is investing heavily in education, with the aim of providing quality education to young people.
