Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that the “Serbia 2020-2025" plan envisages an investment of €60 million in kindergartens.
By the end of this year, facilities for this purpose will have been built in 15 local self-governments, with the capacity for 2,200 children.
During a tour of the reconstruction works on the Pcelica kindergarten in Lacarak near Sremska Mitrovica, Brnabic said that she expects the works to be finished before the November deadline and that after this there will be no more waiting lists.
She said that the government has given consent for the employment of 2,000 staff in preschool institutions alone and that the goal is to increase the number of employees.
I have given a clear instruction to the Education Minister that all employees in any area of education who have been on temporary employment contracts for years be given indefinite contracts, Brnabic said.
According to her, Sremska Mitrovica has a strong and stable local self-government, which has shown how fast a municipality can develop.
In addition, this municipality has a good budget, funds for capital investments and unemployment below five percent, Brnabic underlined, noting that ten years ago the unemployment rate in Sremska Mitrovica stood at 38 percent.
Before the visit to the kindergarten in Lacarak, the Prime Minister visited, together with Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic, the biggest metal armature factory in the Balkans "Metalfer".
She visited the new production plant , worth €60 million, which is under construction. The facility will be completed by 20 March and it will employ 50 workers. Another two existing production plants employ around 150 workers.
