Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic met today in Bac with Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi and the ambassadors of the EU Member States.
The main topic of the meeting was Serbia’s perspective on the path to EU and the priorities of Serbia and the EU in 2020.
Joksimovic underlined that Serbia, as one of the regional leaders in the European integration process, significantly contributes to the preservation of credibility and the promotion of the enlargement policy and competitiveness of the EU.
Ahead of the meeting, Joksimovic and the ministers visited the Franciscan monastery in Bac that dates back to the 12th century and was officially reopened last summer, after the completion of reconstruction works. Today it represents an exceptional example of the Serbian cultural heritage.
Together with the Bac fortress and the Bodjani monastery, the museum complex has been completed, all with the support from EU funds in the amount of almost €4 million.
Since 2014 the EU has provided around €1.5 billion in grants to Serbia for the support to reforms in the fields of judiciary, public administration, education, employment, transport, energy, agriculture, environmental protection and culture.
This support contributes to the overall economic and social development and the progress of underdeveloped parts of Serbia.
