Surcin-Obrenovac section opens on Milos the Great highway

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, together with President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, attended today the opening of the section of the Milos the Great highway from Surcin to Obrenovac.

The opening of this section, which is 17.6 km long, completes the 120 km highway from Belgrade to Cacak.

By visiting the new highway and the large bridge near Obrenovac on the Sava and Kolubara, Vucic said after talking with representatives of the Chinese company CCCC, that citizens will be able to travel from Belgrade to Pozega in exactly two years.

He estimated that Cacak and the surrounding towns will flourish thanks to the new road, announcing that a development plan would be presented on 28 December, which, he said, will not be just a wish list.

It will be a plan with a very strong reform agenda for growth of six percent and more by 2025. We want to be the first in Europe at the rate of economic growth, the President said.

Speaking at the opening of the said section, Vucic emphasised that all of our citizens should be proud of their participation in the construction of the most important roads for Serbia, which will revive central and western Serbia and bring new value and a new quality of life.

He added that today Belgrade and Cacak woke up and decided to move closer to each other, becoming closer, and thus all the places along the way and part of Serbia became part of a large close family.

This is exactly what is the best gift to Serbia after many years of torture, transition, destroyed factories, the President of Serbia concluded.

Mihajlovic estimated that this is a great year for infrastructure in our country, where 350 km of highways were put into service, along with 500 km of rehabilitated railways, adding that nothing was further away in Serbia.

This highway not only connects places, people and the economy, but is part of Serbian history and proves that Serbia, no matter how difficult it may be, can do great works, she said.
