Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali spoke today with World Bank Director for the Western Balkans Linda Van Gelder about the new growth agenda currently under way by the World Bank and Serbia's priorities for the next five years.
The World Bank believes that Serbia has the potential to achieve an even greater economic growth if it invests strategically and in the right way in certain sectors.
Mali said that growth for this year will exceed the projected 3.5%, and that for next year the projected real GDP growth is 4%.
Regarding the priorities for the next five years, he emphasised that he believes that education is the most important in order for Serbia to have an educated and qualified workforce in the future.
As a second priority, the Minister defined digitisation and development of the IT sector.
Also, Mali and Van Gelder highlighted the development of the capital market as a priority area.
In the coming period, the World Bank will draw up a five-year plan (2020-2024) that will define the goals and framework through which that bank will support Serbia in the period.
