Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended the inauguration of the renovated Palace of Justice building in Belgrade today, with the first trials to begin on 4 November.
The building of the Palace of Justice was jointly opened by President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic, Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia Sam Fabrizi.
Vucic said that he is proud that the work on the reconstruction of the Palace of Justice has been successfully completed, and announced that the state will continue to rebuild the buildings because it is the best image and opportunity for the progress of the whole society and improvement of standards.
He expressed his gratitude to the European Union for providing the funds for nine percent of the value of the works, as well as for those who enabled Serbia to take cheap, good loans, which will be repaid on time.
Kuburovic recalled that the reconstruction, which cost €16 million and three million more for equipment, began 29 months ago and was paid for by European Investment Bank, EU grants and Serbia's budget.
The number of courtrooms and cabinets is now greater, and employees have modern working conditions, the Minister said.
Fabrizi said that the rule of law is the basis of any democratic society and that is why it is so important for the EU and Serbia, which has decided to become a full member of the EU and, to that end, seeks to align with the principles and values of the EU.
