The demonstration at the “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlovic” Military Airport marked the beginning of commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade in World War II, and the strength of the Serbian Armed Forces was demonstrated by more than 2,400 members of the military, 100 combat and non-combat vehicles and systems and about 25 aircraft.
The demonstration in Batajnica included the display of capabilities of a part of special forces and ground forces, armed and equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and equipment based on the "1,500+" concept and donated from Russia.
Vucic and Medvedev walked the red carpet, which was placed next to the stage, from where they watched the exercise, and the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces was placed next to the red carpet.
The demonstration began after the playing of the Serbian national anthem and the Serbian Army showed its determination to respond to risks, challenges and threats and to protect Serbia's security.
At the end of the programme, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vucic wished members of the Serbian Armed Forces, citizens and guests a happy Day of Liberation of Belgrade from fascists, and rated the exercise as "very good".
Vucic thanked all the officers, NCOs and soldiers for all they do for their country.
I want to wish you a happy Day of Liberation of Belgrade from fascists. Let us always protect freedom and tradition and I want to give a big thanks especially to you, dear veterans, who are still in formation today and who defended Serbia 20 years ago - for everything you did for your fatherland, the President of Serbia stated.
He underlined that the Serbian Army has more and more modern tools and weapons and that Serbia will continue to protect the libertarian tradition.
We will be able to protect our skies, our country and our people. Long live free and independent Serbia! Vucic concluded.
The military exercise was also attended by Serbian Member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Milorad Dodik, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Maja Gojkovic, ministers in the Government of Serbia, MPs, BIA Director Bratislav Gasic, representatives of the Belgrade City Assembly and other officials.
