Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjártó agreed today that the governments of the two countries are focusing on strong cooperation in the field of energy.
At the meeting, held in Tapolka, it was emphasised that this particularly refers to the development of a joint gas interconnector project, which is of strategic importance for the development of both countries.
The officials stated that coordination of activities that would ensure the supply of gas to Serbia and Hungary was underway in all scenarios.
We, as two responsible governments, have examined the full range of gas supply options and agreed that in all scenarios we have precise modalities on how we will supply the necessary quantities, the minister said.
Antic expressed hope that the electricity exchanges of Serbia and Hungary would unite by the end of the year and create a powerful regional stock exchange in the interest of the entire region.
Szijjártó once again expressed Hungary's strong support for Serbia's path to the EU, assessing the Union's interest in supporting the region of the Western Balkans, and in particular Serbia, in the process of European integration.
