Prime Minister Ana said today that a European perspective is essential for a region that will not be calm or stable until all countries become members of the European Union.
Speaking at the plenary session of the Summit of South-East European Cooperation Process in Jahorina, Brnabic stressed that countries must connect with each other, so that the region is predictable and so that it could signal to the Union that we are ready to become its members.
Our country supports and urges the EU to make a positive decision to open negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia as soon as possible, as this is important for the entire region, the Prime Minister said.
She announced that the headquarters of the Transport Community will be opened in Belgrade in September and invited the participants to attend the event.
Also, the Prime Minister pointed out that Serbia has completed the construction of the southern arm of the Corridor 10, while the eastern line towards Bulgaria will be completed by the end of September, and the construction of the highway to Bosnia-Herzegovina will start by the end of July.
The construction of the highway to Pristina, Tirana and Durres is also planned, which will be one of the main directions that will give a human and political signal, said the Prime Minister and announced the continuation of work on rail and energy connections in the region.
As a good example of cooperation, Brnabic emphasised the Comorian Investment Forum, as a regional economic chamber.
On the other hand, she stressed that Pristina directly violated the CEFTA agreement since November last year, when it introduced taxes of 100% on goods from central Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
According to Brnabic, for the first time in the last seven years this reduced trade across the region, which caused further distrust in the much shaky relations in the region.
Serbia agrees with the initiative to form a committee that will deal with the issue of border and property, as these are important issues that harm everyone, if not resolved bilaterally, but through arbitration, she said.
Also, our country supports the Commission on Migration Issues, with the assessment that this should include the EU as the issue of migrants is not regional, as migrants enter the countries of the EU region and go further into the Union.
We cannot do it alone, we need a common European migration policy and we will support it, said Brnabic.
