On this occasion, Brnabic explained that the construction of the State Data Centre is a national infrastructure project that will ensure systematic and faster construction of information systems of electronic administration, more efficient linking of various databases and development of various eGovernment services for citizens, the economy and the state.
Also, it will be a regional data storage centre that will have a part intended for commercial users.
The Prime Minister announced that in 12 months Serbia will receive one of the most modern data centres in the world, in which €30 million will be invested and will lead Serbia in the future of new investments and technologies.
The construction of the State Data Centre is important because of the full safety of citizens' data, and Serbia will thus be on the map of countries that have their own data centre for storing and the security of data.
According to her, this state-of-the-art infrastructure centre is also a big step forward in further positioning Serbia as a country that is a credible investment destination.
If someone chooses you to save their information, it says a lot about you, that you are a safe, stable, predictable, credible destination for investment, the Prime Minister pointed out.
Brnabic recalled that she set herself the goal of making a State Data Centre while she was still at the position of the minister of public administration and local self-government.
By introducing modern technology and transforming the administration, which is now in the service of citizens, data from the birth register were put into electronic form, then the data on citizenship, after which a central register of citizens was introduced, she explained.
Director of IT and e-Government Office Mihailo Jovanovic signed today three memoranda of understanding with companies Microsoft, Oracle and Postanska Stedionica Bank, which are becoming the first commercial companies that show their intention to keep their data in this centre.
After signing these documents, Jovanovic emphasized that the construction of the State Data Centre is a turning point in the development of eGovernment and the ICT sector in Serbia, noting that this will contribute to Serbia skipping ten steps and stepping into the Fourth infrastructure revolution.
According to him, the area of the State Data Centre covers four hectares, the facility will span 11,000 square metres and several hundred people will be employed on the system maintenance.
Mayor of Kragujevac Radomir Nikolic said that this city was chosen as a city with the lowest risk of natural disasters, criminal risk, good road infrastructure and with enough professional and educated people.
Nikolic recalled that the security of investing in this city was recognised by other major European companies like Fiat.
