Digitalisation among prerequisites for modern, efficient public administration

Belgrade/London, 2 October 2026

Prime Minister in a caretaker capacity Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today, as part of a one-day working visit to London and Cambridge, with representatives of Oracle, who presented the company’s experiences in the digital transformation of the public sector.

During the meeting, Macut emphasised that digitalisation is one of the key prerequisites for a modern, efficient and accessible public administration, adding that new technological solutions should be used in ways that enable citizens to exercise their rights more easily and quickly and access public services.

Digitalisation is not an end in itself. Its true value is measured by the extent to which it makes everyday life easier for citizens, makes public administration more efficient and enables us to make better-informed decisions, the Prime Minister pointed out.

Macut noted that it is particularly important for the development of new technologies to be accompanied by a high level of data protection and public trust. He also stressed that exchanging experience with leading global technology companies could be beneficial for the continued digital transformation of Serbia, particularly in the areas of public administration, healthcare and the application of artificial intelligence.

The meeting also featured solutions that Oracle implements in cooperation with public sector institutions in the United Kingdom, particularly in the areas of developing and implementing software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, secure data management, the application of artificial intelligence, and improving the quality and accessibility of public services.
