Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo said at the founding session of Serbia’s first business cluster today that the creation of clusters in various industries will help better organise the work, raise the quality of products, and boost output.
Bubalo said that the fact that Serbia’s first business cluster has been established in the auto industry is of great significance given that this industry is set to post the sharpest growth in exports in the coming years.
He recalled that the creation of the first cluster was assisted by Austrian and German auto manufacturers and institutions and organisations, which is very important given that Germany is one the biggest car manufacturers in the world.
According to him, the setting up of five more clusters in Serbia is in preparation.
German Ambassador in Belgrade Andreas Zobel said that great challenges are ahead for Serbia’s auto industry and that the country must regain lost partners in order to revive the industry.
According to him, the aim of this cluster is to help domestic manufacturers of auto parts and equipment get organised and attract attention of foreign partners.
Zobel said that the setting up of this cluster is proof that Serbia has ideas and motivation and that science, politics, and economy can be gathered around one idea.
Germany is not only Serbia’s key trade partner but also one of the major aid donors, and has assisted Serbia with a total of €400 million since October 2000, Zobel recalled and added that Germany also accounts for one quarter of the EU’s total aid to Serbia.
