Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar emphasised today at the session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) that the government of Serbia implements a comprehensive drug policy through the application of balanced, integrated, multidisciplinary and scientifically proven approaches to this problem.

During his address at the first part of the session in Vienna, Loncar emphasised that the government does so by respecting human rights, gender equality, freedom and security.
In particular, he pointed to the efforts of the government and the President of Serbia aimed at a comprehensive approach to the prevention of drug use, especially among young people, and stated that, accordingly, last year, a Ministry Commission for the Prevention of Drug Use was established in schools.
The Ministry also established an Early Warning System for new psychoactive substances, Loncar said, adding that 15 new substances have been included in the list of psychoactive controlled substances in the last year.
He also pointed out that, according to official data, in 2018 the number of seizures of drugs and psychoactive substances increased in Serbia, and specified that 3.9 tons of drugs were seized.
