In relation to the 2004 average, a 15.8 percent decline was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water, a 7 percent decline in ore and stone extraction and a 3.3 percent decline in the processing industry.
The production of capital goods fell 24.6 percent, durable consumer goods 20.9 percent and energy 16.3 percent, while the production of intermediate goods excluding energy and non-durable consumer goods recorded growth.
The beginning of the second quarter of 2005 recorded a 2.3 percent decline in industrial production against the same period last year. In the period between January and May 2005, industrial production recorded a growth in relation to the same period last year only in the sector of production and distribution of electricity, gas and water (7.7 percent), while a decline was seen in the sectors of processing industry (5 percent) and ore and stone extraction (1.7 percent).
