Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic expressed the belief today that the European road of Serbia will result in EU membership in five to seven years, after which a new phase in the development of the country will start, which is the goal of the Serbian government.

Speaking at the Sixth National Conference on Cross-Border Cooperation, where awards were delivered for the best projects in the field of preservation of cultural heritage and border regions, Joksimovic said that this is a realistic deadline for Serbia to implement reforms and for the EU to become ready for new members.
According to Joksimovic, the story of European integration is a story of peace, stability, good neighbourly relations, the use of funds, joint development, sustainable regional development, and the reduction of inequality, both social and economic, because without that every story loses meaning.
The Minister added that after joining the EU, Serbia will be able to use cohesion funds for development, in which Croatia, for example, has around €10 billion at its disposal.
Serbia uses the time until accession to the EU to learn about the problems the new members were facing.
