Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic talked today with Head of the Belgrade Mission Office of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM MO Belgrade) Massimilliano Caprari about progress and the accomplished reforms in the Serbian judiciary.
Stojkovic pointed out that in the opinion of the EU Council and with the help of OSCE experts, who assisted with the composing of new legal texts, all laws enacted by the Justice Ministry in the past 12 months are in accordance with international and EU standards.
The Minister said that there is a political willingness and that the Serbian judiciary has both the professional and technical capacities for the prosecution of war criminals to take place in Serbia. He added that Serbian judges have been travelling to The Hague for more than a year in order to get practical experience in this field.
Stojkovic announced that by the end of the month another courtroom will be opened in the Palace of Justice in Belgrade, equipped with contemporary technical and safety devices for prosecuting crimes dealing with war and organised crime.
