Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic said today that Germany allocated €40 million in non-repayable aid to Serbia for 2017, stressing that this country is the largest bilateral donor to Serbia in the last 15 years with €1.7 billion.

The Minutes on the intergovernmental development talks between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany were signed by Jadranka Joksimovic and Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic and Head of the South East Europe, Eastern Europe and South Caucasus Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany Dirk Schattschneider.
Joksimovic said that these funds will be used to finance projects that bring concrete benefits to citizens, noting that European integration is a mechanism for regional and local development.
German Ambassador to Serbia Axel Dittmann said that Germany will continue to be a reliable and fair partner to Serbia on its road to the EU, adding that he is very happy about the signing of the Minutes on bilateral cooperation.
Schattschneider specified that the projects that will be financed are those related to Serbia's European integration and to sustainable growth of economy and employment.
Out of a total of €40 million, €17 million will be invested in the projects of sustainable economic development, €14 million for the rule of law and €6 million for environmental protection.
