Joksimovic told Tanjug news agency that the resolution was prepared by European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister and that 524 MPs voted for it, 70 were against and 70 were abstained, which shows a large consensus in the European Parliament.
There are various parties from all EU countries, both right and left social democrats, the greens and populist parties that are the most numerous. A consensus has been reached that Serbia made good progress towards European integration, especially in the fields of economic reform, fight against corruption and the rule of law, Joksimovic stated.
According to her, progress in the field of regional cooperation and orientation of Serbia towards peace and dialogue was highlighted, which is particularly valued and assessed affirmatively.
EU as a model exists precisely on the principle of dialogue and compromise and on seeking solutions that are good for all. Regional cooperation is also seen in that way, because if you are not ready to talk with those who are your closest neighbours, then the question is whether you will be able to have a dialogue within the EU, she underlined.
