The meeting focused on the implementation of existing projects funded by the EU and on preparations for future EU financial assistance.
They highlighted the importance of national sectoral policies and strategies that support the efficient use of EU aid, the Unique list of priority infrastructure projects and the National Committee for investments, as well as examples of good practice in the region.
Joksimovic, who is also national IPA coordinator, pointed out that much has been done in the process of programming and implementation of IPA programmes.
She said it was important to draw attention to the challenges that arise in their implementation, as well as the commitment of Serbia to fully cooperate with partners in order to secure quality and efficient management of IPA funds.
In this context, the Monitoring Committee IPA came to very concrete and useful conclusions which will help to achieve results in a more efficient manner.
Noting that Serbia stands firmly on its path to the EU, Calavera said that the efficient use of EU funds is of key importance so that the citizens of Serbia could have real benefits from the reforms, both before and after accession to the EU.
It is a joint task of Serbia and the EU to achieve that, she stated.
The participants in the meeting stressed the need for further strengthening of domestic institutions that manage EU financial aid, and the importance of keeping trained government employees that work on these tasks.
