Serbian Statehood Day marked

Speaker of the National Assembly Maja Gojkovic led today, in the church of St. Djordje in Topola, state ceremony to mark the national holiday – Serbia's Statehood Day.

Gojkovic said that only a stable and strong Serbia can defend its national interests, and emphasised that the most important task is to fight for a more successful and more modern Serbia, which will be respected in the world.
The history of the Serbian people is marked by times of struggle for freedom and a better life and development, she noted, and added that every time bears its sacrifice.
According to her, Serbia is trying to find the best route for itself and its citizens precisely in order to ensure economic development and an orderly country.
She had previously laid a wreath and paid homage at the tomb of Karadjordje.
Wreaths were laid by the Minister for Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and a delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Army of Serbia.
The state ceremony was attended by numerous guests, including foreign ambassadors.
