Sweden’s support to European path of Serbia

Minister without portfolio in charge of European integration Jadranka Joksimovic said today in Stockholm that Sweden is one of the most important bilateral donors and most trusted development partners of Serbia.
Joksimovic, who is on an official visit to Sweden, spoke with Swedish Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Ann Linde about potentials for further economic cooperation and attracting Swedish investments.
The Minister without portfolio responsible for European Integration met with the representatives of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), which has been helping Serbia in its reforms for years.
She noted that Sweden has supported many projects in Serbia and added that they discussed the possibilities of further cooperation, especially in the field of environmental protection and ecology, where Sweden is the most advanced of all EU countries and beyond.
Sweden remains one of the largest and most reliable partners of Serbia in the reform process and expects a successful continuation of cooperation, Joksimovic noted, adding at the same time that this country offers clear support for Serbia's European integration and the opening of chapters for which we are ready.
She said that the officials with whom she spoke said that Sweden supports in principle the enlargement process on the criteria set, and that it will stand firm and be active in persuading everyone in the EU that bilateral issues should not be brought into the negotiation process, but that such things should be resolved through dialogue and bilateral talks.
