Joksimovic congratulated McAllister on his appointment as President of AFET - Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
She underlined that EU membership is a strategic commitment of the government of Serbia, and that reforms are being implemented in order to raise standards and provide a better life for citizens.
According to the Minister, European integration is the best mechanism for internal development and progress of a country.
Joksimovic said that during Malta’s presidency of the EU Serbia expects to open the chapters for which it is technically ready: 26, relating to culture and education, and 20 and 29 - on industrial policy and entrepreneurship, i.e. the Customs Union.
However, she said that due to previous experiences, Serbia will be cautious with its announcements.
Joksimovic and McAllister spoke about the Resolution on Serbia, which he is preparing, and the Minister voiced hope that McAllister will manage to make a balanced document, as he did before.
McAllister commended Serbia’s progress in the process of European integration and evaluated positively the results of reforms that Serbia is implementing.
