Hesteel to invest $120 million in Smederevo steelworks

Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic, received today President of Hesteel Group President Yu Yong, with whom he talked about the work of steelworks in Smederevo, which was bought by a Chinese company Hesteel in July this year.

Yong, who visited the steelworks and talked with management and staff, conveyed today to the Minister of Economy satisfaction with the work so far, and presented the plan for the coming year.
China's Hesteel Group will invest $120 million in the Smederevo steel mill in 2017, Yong said after the meeting adding that in the past six months about 200 professionals and technicians were in Hesteel who have significantly improved production.
The Minister of Economy said that Serbia is a stable country with a clear plan of how to proceed, said Knezevic.
Knezevic also noted that preconditions are created for projects and in free zones, which the investors should use.
