Sweden significant, reliable development partner to Serbia

Minister without portfolio responsible for European integration Jadranka Joksimovic met today with Director-General for International Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Johannes Oljelund to speak about the process of European integration and bilateral development assistance by Sweden provided to Serbia.

The officials assessed that Sweden has continuously supported the European path of Serbia and supports the opening of the chapters.
They also discussed the modalities and directions of development cooperation, which is one of the main objectives in Swedish assistance to Serbia in its EU approximation, noting that cooperation takes place through different types of activities.
Joksimovic pointed out that donor development aid contributes to the further development of the public sector, economic development, and helping vulnerable social groups.
Those are people with disabilities, victims of violence, children without parental care, she noted.
Oljelund pointed out that Sweden continues to provide support to Serbia's European path for achieving the objectives defined in the Strategy of Development Cooperation by 2020.
The officials stressed the importance of continued support for local and regional development, environmental protection and public procurement.
