The statement says that the implementation of the agreed programme supported by the current precautionary stand-by arrangement, which the IMF approved on 23 February 2015 is successfully continued, that macroeconomic perspective is positive and employment trends encouraging.
The IMF mission, led by James Roaf, is on a visit to Belgrade from 20 October to 1 November in order to hold talks with representatives of Serbia as part of the regular sixth review of the current precautionary stand-by arrangement.
During the mission’s visit, the latest macroeconomic, fiscal, monetary and balance of payments developments will be examined.
The fiscal policy until the end of 2016 and in the following year will be analysed with special care, as well as preparation for the 2017 budget.
The continuation of the fiscal adjustment, public debt reduction and consistent implementation of structural reforms to enhance competitiveness and economic growth remain priorities of the programme, it is said in the statement.
