Speaking at the Fifth national conference on cross-border cooperation, she pointed out that our country should not step back before problems that exist in the EU, but make the best evaluation of its interests.
When it comes to regional stability and development, Joksimovic said that it is necessary to learn lessons from those who have already passed them, and stressed that European integration is recognised as the best and most sensible way for the improvement of society.
Joksimovic, who is also the national IPA coordinator, announced that she will initiate with the Delegation of the EU an event where they will show the experiences in this cooperation, to ensure that all municipalities become familiar with them.
European integration, she said, is part of internal development policy of Serbia and the government has taken the position that EU funds are support for reforms and development at all levels, from the local to the national.
Setting the examples of good use of these funds, she mentioned Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, which have thus developed their inner strength and economy.
She called on local governments to do a good methodological assessment, see the real needs and participate in EU projects, noting that the municipalities are actually holders of 60% of regulations that Serbia is adopting.
The main objective of the conference is to present the results achieved to date in the cross-border and transnational cooperation, which is implemented in Serbia and surrounding countries, as well as the new EU financial perspectives intended for this cooperation.
For the 2014-2020 period, more than €245 million has been approved to Serbia for the implementation of these projects.
The conference is being attended by more than 300 representatives of the institutions of the Serbian government, European Union, regional and local governments, academic and professional community, the media, civil society, as well as the users and potential users of the programme.
