In an interview with Director of the Department for Western Europe, the Western Balkans and Turkey of EEAS Angelina Eichhorst, Vulin expressed concern over the fact that the necessary political decisions have still not been made.
At a meeting at the headquarters of the EEAS in Brussels, the Minister pointed out that the Western Balkan route is very much alive, and that Serbia alone is not able to cope with the consequences of the migrant crisis.
He said that this time he asked for European assistance in the form of better access to funding, but also access to making proper political decisions that will influence the solving of the problem of migrant crisis.
Everyone agrees that Serbia is an example of good treatment of migrants, but also of good safety of its own citizens. We will continue to act like this, but we cannot do it alone, Vulin concluded during the first day of his working visit to Brussels.
Vulin will speak tomorrow about the migrant crisis with European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianidis and Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.
