Strong support of Portugal to Serbia on its EU path

Minister without portfolio in charge of European integration Jadranka Joksimovic spoke today with Ambassador of Portugal in Serbia Augusto Saraiva Peixoto about the promotion of bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of European integration.

Joksimovic expressed gratitude for the support of Portugal to the process of European integration of Serbia and for the enlargement policy of the EU which Portugal advocates since the beginning.

The Ambassador of Portugal said that Serbia can always count on the strong support of Portugal on its European path and in internal reforms that have been successfully implemented, as he said.

The Minister without portfolio in charge of European integration has estimated that political signals and support that Serbia receives from its international partners are very important, especially at a time when not only Serbia, but also the EU itself and its Member States are faced with many challenges. The interlocutors assessed the importance of the reform process, which is implemented in Serbia and exchanged experiences on the process, given that Portugal itself in the recent past has begun to implement tough economic reforms that have produced results.

Joksimovic underlined that European integration is a good mechanism and framework for comprehensive reforms at the national level, and that Serbia stays on the EU path, according to a statement from the Office of the Minister without portfolio in charge of European integration.
