Implementation of Action Plan for Chapter 23 priority

Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic met today with Director for the Western Balkans at the Directorate-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission, Genoveva Ruiz Calavera to discuss further Serbia's path towards the EU.

Kuburovic pointed out that the implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 23 is a priority for the line ministry in the coming period, noting that Serbia even before the official opening of Chapter 23 started the implementation of the Action Plan for this chapter.
Calavera estimated that Chapter 23 presents a major challenge for Serbia on its path towards the EU, and that Serbia faces challenging tasks in the future. She expressed support to Serbia in the further implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 23.
Brussels is very interested in Serbia's further progress in the implementation of the plan, Calavera said and emphasised the need for close cooperation between EU experts and representatives of the Serbian judiciary.
Calavera and Kuburovic agreed that the first official visit of experts from the European Commission in early October is of great importance.
