Germany recognises constructive role of Serbia in region

Minister without portfolio in charge of European integration Jadranka Joksimovic stated today that it is good that Germany recognises the constructive role that our country has in the region, and said that Serbia will continue to improve bilateral relations with that country.

After a meeting with Minister of State for Europe at the German Federal Foreign Office Michael Roth, Joksimovic said that for Serbia the visit of this high official is very important, especially in the period after the formation of the new government because it shows the continuity of good bilateral cooperation.

She added that our country is grateful to Germany for its continued and good cooperation and support, and said that Serbia will seek to further strengthen and promote bilateral relations.

Joksimovic and Roth also spoke about Serbia's European integration, dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the overall reforms in society and the economy, as well as other important issues.

She said that during the meeting regional cooperation was also discussed, and added that she was pleased that Germany recognises the constructive policy of the Serbian government and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, which is not always easy and simple for the citizens of Serbia, but for which she is convinced that will bring a good result in the end.

We believe that if others also recognise the importance of such an approach in the region, we will have a better common future, Joksimovic stated.

She added that Serbia will remain committed to the European path and European integration, and expressed expectation that by the end of the year several more important chapters will be opened.

Roth said that Germany will continue to remain a reliable partner of Serbia on its path towards the European Union and commended its constructive role in the region.
