Joksimovic told the Tanjug news agency regarding the latest developments in the region and
the letter of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to the European Commission that Serbia and the Serbian government have shown a clear commitment to better relations and to overcoming the rhetoric and manners from the past.
However, that does not mean that Serbia must stay silent about worrying messages and actions in Croatia, which certainly do not represent values on which the post-war European Union was built, Joksimovic noted.
She said that since regional stability and reconciliation is one of the political preconditions for joining the EU, for Serbia as a candidate it is important that others show responsibility too.
We pointed that out clearly to the EU, Joksimovic said and added that if someone does not want cooperation, Serbia will take note of that.
The Minister without portfolio stated that Serbia, and its government, act responsibly and Serbia is willing to function as a modern state that looks to the future, as that is in the highest interest of its citizens.
I sincerely believe that the citizens of Croatia are much more mature and responsible than the country’s political elite and that despite all the differences in the interpretation of the past and disagreements, their primary interest is to live in peace, stability and economic prosperity, Joksimovic concluded.
