The Ministry of Defence said that Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that the government of Serbia within the programme "Partnership for Peace" enjoys the status of a stable and responsible partner, and that it is firmly committed to cooperation with all countries and international organisations whose aim is enhancing regional and global security.
The meeting was dedicated to the further implementation of the Initiative for interoperability partners.
Djordjevic said in his speech that the security environment today is very unstable, and that the biggest victims are ordinary citizens and their right to a safe life.
In relation to the current security risks and adequate political and strategic-military responses, the government of the Republic of Serbia, led by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, leads a serious and responsible policy.
Cooperation in the field of security and defence, as one of the key functions of the state, involves the construction of common capabilities necessary to respond to threats such as terrorism and migration.
The Republic of Serbia is developing the necessary mechanisms to make its contribution to national security and the security of other states and peoples.
The meeting in Warsaw was attended by heads of states, governments, ministers of foreign affairs and defence from more than 60 countries as well as representatives of major international organisations.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Minister had bilateral meetings with defense ministers of Poland Antoni Macierewicz, Armenia Seyran Ohanyan, Austria Peter Doskozil, Montenegro Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic and Bulgaria Nikolai Nenchev, as well as representatives of the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
Also during the summit Minister Đorđević also met with senior officials from Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Macedonia and Moldova.
In addition to consideration of further promoting bilateral cooperation in the talks was analyzed and the current political and security situation in the region and the world, said in a statement.
