Speaking at the 7th international meeting of high representatives in charge of security issues, which is being held in this Russian city, Stefanovic said that closer cooperation and timely exchange of information relevant to security is very important to counter all the challenges that await us.
He said that Serbia is firmly committed to engaging in all the processes of regional and international security and, within its capabilities, to providing a full contribution to stability through full cooperation with international partners.
A potential risk to the security of Serbia, he said, is the return of Serbian nationals from foreign battlefields, especially from jihadists returning from Syria and Iraq, who fought in some of the terrorist organisations operating in that area.
The Minister pointed out that there is a danger that these persons upon their return continue to carry out further radicalisation, adding that because of participation in armed conflicts in Syria and Iraq, indictments against seven of our citizens have been filed for the crime of terrorist association.
