International Fair of Agriculture opens in Novi Sad

Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said today that Serbia has excellent conditions for its agricultural products to compete with products from Europe and the world.

Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said at the opening of the International Fair of Agriculture in Novi Sad that the Serbian government has recognised the importance of agriculture for the Serbian economy and firmly supports Serbian agriculture.

According to the Minister, the growing interest and increasing presence of both domestic and foreign companies at the fair speaks highly of the quality and tradition that this event enjoys beyond the borders of Serbia.

She pointed out that foreign investors recognised the potential for production of healthy and quality food and they emphasise more and more their willingness to invest, not only in primary production but also in food processing.

Agriculture, as she recalled, is the only area of the Serbian economy which in the last decade has been recording a constant surplus in foreign trade, including at the highly demanding markets of the EU, Russia and CEFTA.

Bogosavljevic-Boskovic expressed gratitude to Ambassador of Italy in Serbia Giuseppe Manzo and that country, which is this year's partner country of the fair, and to domestic exhibitors, guests, visitors and all the farmers whose diligent work is the foundation of our agriculture.
