The agreements signed, worth €102.3 million, are related to a portion of the total funds that are envisaged as financial support for Serbia as part of the IPA programme for 2014, while another €86.8 million are expected by the end of the year.
One of the agreements signed, worth €72 million, is intended for support to the implementation of the Special measure for the clean-up of consequences of floods and flood risk management.
This scheme is a continuation of EU support for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the flood-stricken areas, and the funds will be used for reconstruction and upgrading of coastal defences in Paracin, Valjevo, Svilajnac, as well as the region of Macva.
The cleaning of drainage network in the Belgrade municipalities of Obrenovac, Zemun and New Belgrade will also be supported with these funds, and the acquisition of mobile walls for flood defence and landslide remediation is also planned.
Under the other agreements, Serbia will receive €30.3 million. The non-refundable aid, approved by this agreement, will be used for projects that will help Serbia to implement reforms in the public administration sector and in the field of education, which are indispensable for future membership in the EU.
The agreement also provides for the support to the European integration process of Serbia, and for the support to technical preparation of priority investment projects, reads a statement by the Office of the Minister without portfolio.
