Stefanovic and the FBI Eurasia region chief Steven Hersem, who heads the delegation, said that cooperation between the Interior Ministry and the FBI is very good and it would be further enhanced in the area of information exchange and police cooperation after the sending of an FBI cyber crime agent to Belgrade, who took up the post in October the current year.
Speaking about security challenges facing Serbia, Stefanovic asked for FBI’s support in fighting organized crime and high-tech crime, as well as departures of Serbian citizens to battlefields in Syria and Iraq.
The meeting also discussed the continuation of training of MUP police officials and the support of the FBI in achieving the standards and best practices of U.S. law enforcement services, as well as the possibility of Stefanovic meeting with U.S. FBI chief James Comey.
The FBI Eurasia chief commended the commitment of the Serbian police to combating all forms of organized crime.
The meeting was attended by the head of the FBI Legal Attache Office for the Balkans, whose seat is in Sarajevo Luis Kasada, and the FBI delegation also met with officials of the Serbian Police Directorate to discuss the operational aspect of cooperation.
