“UNMIK – Titanic”, a film by Boris Mitic is a fast paced and jolting illustration of the New Year celebration on December 31, 2003 by the last 100 Serbs from Pristina in the ghetto-building “YU Programme”. Adults kill time by visiting each other and drinking cold beer in the only shop in the basement, children play football in the corridors and hunt pigeons in the attic, but it occurs to no one that they should give up the New Year celebration…
At the recently held 6th “Balkan Black Box”festival (www.balkanblackbox.de) in Berlin, it won the award for the best documentary film. This is the third time the film has received such recognition, after the awards in Rome (www.romadocfest.it) and New Siberia (www.docfest.ru).
The film was shown in Madrid (www.documentamadrid.com), Yerevan (www.gaiff.am), Sofia, Ljubljana (www.pi-ff.net), Katmandu, Glasgow, Budapest (www.verzio.ceu.hu), Belgrade (at the Festival of Regional Documentary Films) and Pristina, at the “One World” film festival.
Boris Matic produces, directs, records and edits his own films.
