The European Parliament noted that that is a historic step in the process of European integration of Serbia and a proof that the EU is dedicated to the policy of admission of new members.
The Resolution was voted for by 528 members of the European Parliament, 43 were against and 51 abstained.
The Resolution is a political, unbinding recommendation for the European Council and European Commission, but gives a clear view of the positions of the main political forces in the EU about the European integration process of Serbia.
This document, prepared by Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Serbia Jelko Kacin, welcomes the dedication of the Serbian government to the process of European integration and supports our country to continue with systemic and social economic reforms which will enable an efficient implementation of responsibilities stemming from the future membership in the EU.
