After meeting in the Serbian government with a Chinese working group for the implementation the project, Antic said that the preliminary design will be composed in 2014 and in the process it will be clearly determined how the works will be financed and what their cost will be like.
The Minister said that Serbia will certainly use a total of $10 billion for the project, which China has allocated for the investments in 16 countries of central and southeast Europe.
The first assessments show that the modernization of the railway leg from Stara Pazova to Novi Sad needs around €350 million, and from Novi Sad to the Hungarian border €500 million, he said.
Antic said that €880 million at the most should be assigned for the railway leg through Serbia, while the leg from the border to Budapest will need almost twice as much since the Hungarian railway is in a worse condition.
The Minister said that a joint meeting of three working groups – Serbian, Chinese and Hungarian, will be held most probably in January in order to continue the talks on the realization of the project.
