Ambassador of Serbia-Montenegro to UNESCO Dragoljub Najman told the Tanjug news agency that three Serbian monuments of culture in Kosovo-Metohija that date to medieval times have officially been nominated for inclusion on the list of the world's foremost natural and cultural heritage sites.
Najman said that the sites submitted are the monasteries of Gracanica and the Patriarchate of Pec, and the Bogorodica Ljeviska Church in Prizren.
He explained that the final decision will be made by the World Heritage Committee at a session that will be held in summer 2006.
Najman said that the same procedure was used for the successful nomination of Kosovo’s Visoki Decani monastery, which was officially included on the World Heritage List at UNESCO’s conference held last year in the Chinese town of Souzhu near Shangai.
