Belgrade committed to dialogue despite obstructions from Priština

Belgrade, 10 September 2026

Director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petković today informed Director of the Adriatic and Balkans Unit of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thomas Botzios about obstructions made by Priština in the dialogue process in Brussels and the unilateral and escalating moves of the Albin Kurti regime to the detriment of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija.

Petković reiterated Belgrade's firm commitment to constructive engagement in the dialogue process, which is being conducted with the mediation of the European Union, emphasising that Priština's obstructions have led to a multi-month standstill in this process.

The Office Director recalled that Priština has been refusing to form the Community of Serb Municipalities for 13 years, despite the fact that EU representatives have guaranteed this with their signatures.

He pointed out that the government of Albin Kurti, in continuing to undermine all agreements reached in Brussels, has dismissed Serbian prosecutors, judges and administrative staff, and has so far illegally demolished 33 buildings owned by Serbs on Gazivode Lake.

Petković expressed his gratitude to his interlocutor for Italy's engagement within the KFOR mission, but also for the country's clear position when it comes to all open issues that threaten peace, stability and normalisation of relations in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.
