The Government of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija today recalled that on this day in 1998, evidence was uncovered in the village of Klečka near Lipljan of one of the most heinous crimes committed by terrorists of the so-called KLA.

The statement notes that the remains of 22 Serb civilians were found in a lime kiln, and according to eyewitness testimonies, many of the victims were tortured and raped before being executed.
It is an indisputable fact that, at the time, members of the “KLA,” during and after the attacks on Orahovac and the surrounding areas, carried out a horrific massacre of Serb civilians, and that their brutality and methodical criminal conduct are evidenced by the fact that those abducted were taken to a remote location, where they were subsequently tortured and killed.
Today, there are numerous sites across Kosovo and Metohija where the remains of murdered Serb civilians lie, and Priština is showing no readiness to enable exhumations, which would help establish the fate of many people still listed as missing, the statement adds.
