Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic met today with UNMIK’s Pillar 4 Head Joachim Rucker, who is in charge of economy and reconstruction in Kosovo-Metohija, to look at options for resolving the problem of power cuts in the province.
The Coordinating Centre said that Rucker pointed out that he was leaving Belgrade with confidence in Serbia’s positive approach and that he announced a social programme, debt relief, and rescheduling of payments of electricity bills for the vulnerable population.
Covic and Rucker agreed that the date of the next meeting of the Working Group on Energy could be set after March 10.
Speaking about privatisation in Kosovo-Metohija, Covic stressed the need for full respect of ownership documents, ownership rights, and the right of all employees to take part in privatisation, regardless of their ethnicity.
Rucker and Covic also agreed to meet once again in a few days to discuss open issues concerning the further course of privatisation in Kosovo-Metohija.
